Barbara Jeanette Dowers, 49, Cayuga, died at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, October 8, at St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois.
She was born June 16, 1934 in Kingman, the daughter of Cecil and Mae Pascal Jackson. On April 11, 1953, she married Henry M. (Bud) Dowers Jr. in Veedersburg, who survives. She was a member and public relations director of Cayuga American Legion Post 263.
Other survivors include her mother, Mae Jackson of Kingman; three daughters, Vicki Walters of Cayuga, Monica Bridgewater of Clinton, and Candy Whitlock of Newport; a son, Henry Dowers III, of El Paso, Texas, two sisters, Betty Weiss of Speedway and Imogene Horton of Danville, Illinois; six brothers, Bobby Jackson of Rockville, Dalton Jackson of Arizona, Leon Jackson of Virginia, Howard Jackson of Attica, Herschel Jackson of Cayuga, and Jackie Jackson of Danville, Illinois; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters.
Services were conducted Monday at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga with burial at Thomas Cemetery near Newport. – thanks to S
